Great Products Are Becoming Rarer.
AI makes software easier to build, but attention remains scarce. Clear positioning, trust, and strong product thinking now matter more than ever.

Introduction
This is an interesting paradox, because everyone can build software now. AI has dramatically lowered the cost of building products. A founder with a good idea can build an MVP in days instead of months. Small teams are shipping features at a speed that would have seemed unrealistic not that long ago. Even people without a technical background are launching products they could never have built before. That’s amazing. More people get to test ideas. More founders get to build products. More problems get solved. But users won’t suddenly have more attention. They still have the same twenty-four hours in a day. The same overflowing inbox. The same endless list of products competing for their time. That’s why I think great products are becoming rarer. Not because fewer people can build. Because everyone can.
Building is no longer the competitive advantage
AI has dramatically lowered the cost of building software. That’s incredible. It also means we’ll see more software than ever before. When everyone can build, simply launching a product is no longer enough.
What will actually matter?
I don’t think the products that survive will be the ones with the best code. They’ll be the ones with clearer positioning. The ones users immediately understand. The ones people trust. The ones with thoughtful onboarding. The ones that solve a real problem. The ones built with strong product thinking.
That’s the exciting part
As building becomes easier, product thinking becomes more valuable. The question is slowly shifting from “Can we build this?” to “Should we build this?” As a product designer, I find that incredibly exciting. The conversations I enjoy most have never been about pixels or code. They’re about understanding users, making difficult trade-offs and helping founders build products that people genuinely care about. AI is making it easier to build software. Understanding people is still the hard part.
